Delft University of Technology’s (TU Delft department of Biotechnology (Faculty of Applied Sciences) concentrates on the multidisciplinary fields of Systems and Synthetic biology, Biocatalysis, Metabolic Engineering & Fermentation Technology, Environmental Biotechnology and Bioprocess Technology as well as such exciting developments in the area of Life Science & Technology as genomics and metabolomics. Many of these areas play an important role in the development of SynBio, specifically in their application capacity for industrial genomics. The department’s section of Biotechnology and Society is an interdisciplinary department that hosts a variety of biotechnology expertise, as
well as expertise on the governance of research and development in industrial biotechnology innovation, societal issues in these areas and ethical technology assessment.

The TUDelft is a Member of the Organisational Team of Platform “Public Science & Participation” and makes major contributions to Platforms “SynBio Futures” as well as “Art, Culture & Society”.
