iGEM Giant Jamboree 2016 - w/ SYNENERGENE workshops
The iGEM 2016 Giant Jamboree will again take place at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, MA.
As in the previous years, SYNENERGENE will hold two workshops to showcase the experiences of iGEM teams who took part in the funding programme to enhance the human practices work.
The workshops will mark the launch of our free and open access web-based tool, the 'iGEMers Guide to the Future', which helps teams develop application scenarios and techno-moral vignettes in order to assess the feasibility and the desirability of their innovative technologies. With these, teams will gain a deeper and broader understanding of their innovation’s context. This work is a form of real-time technology assessment that allows teams to modify or add features to their product to bring it from a good idea to a relevant idea. By using the tool and its results in the development, teams will actually be integrating human practices in their iGEM team work.
- A first workshoop will focus on the use of the tool in the context of the fight against mosquito borne diseases.
Friday, 28th October, 5-6 pm, room 311
- A second workshop will focus on the use of the tool in the context of conservation issues.
Saturday, 29th October, 5-6 pm, room 311
The 'iGEMers Guide to The Future' was developed in the course of a collaboration with iGEM and SYNENERGENE partners. The tool will be available on the iGEM website for all future iGEM teams after beta testing.
If you're interested in participating in the beta test of the tool, please contact synenergene (at) igem (dot) org.
SYNENERGENE team members will also be present at our exhibition booth in Hall D on the second floor - contact us with any questions or just come along for a chat!
