The two-day synbio symposium is hosted by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) and the newly formed Synthetic Biology Australasia society. International experts will explore the cutting edge science, technology and possibilities of the emerging field of synbio, and a variety of established and early career scientists from Australia and New Zealand will also feature.

Plenary speakers include Jim Haseloff (Cambridge University), Jane Calvert (Edinburgh University), Steve Van Dien (Genomatica) and Jack Newman (Amyris Biotechnologies).
