Science Cafe: Synthetic Biology (Dresden, Germany)

Date:
18/10/2016 - 20:00 to 22:00

Dresden's Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics organizes a science café on 'Creating to understand – Synthetic Biology'. Here's the events description, more information is available on the event's facebook page:

Synthetic Biology is a new approach in the life sciences: Researchers copy life, brick by brick, to create artificial cells. They might help to advance in understanding the origin of life, but might also be the foundation of new therapies or new energy sources. But what about dual use? Where are the ethical borderlines? - Artificial? Natural? Which one is it?

These experts are available for discussion:
- Dr. Dora Tang, Research Group Leader at the MPI-CBG
- Dr. Steffen Albrecht, Office of Technology Assessment at the German Parliament
- Dr. Jakob Schweizer, Coordination Assistant for the Research Network MaxSynBio
