"Evolution Made by Man?" Art-Science Symposium

"Evolution Made by Man?" Art-Science Symposium

Date:
13/03/2015 (All day)

Ernst Schering Foundation, together with the Leopoldina – German National Academy of Sciences and Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, organises a one-day symposium in Berlin to discuss synthetic biology from various perspectives under the heading "Evolution Made by Man? Synthetic Biology in the Lab and in the Studio".

The symposium features speakers from the synbio field like Petra Schwille, Alfred Pühler and Tobias J. Erb to talk about the latest scientific developments. But it also covers philosophical and artistic perspectives on synbio with curators, art historians, jurists and DIYbiologist (and SYNENERGENE consortium member) Rüdiger Trojok as speakers.

According to the organisers, the symposium aims at an expert audience as well as the interested public and seeks to intensify the dialogue between science and the public and to strengthen mutual understanding.  In line with this interdisciplinary approach, the symposium is connected to the exhibition “assemble | standard | minimal” by Revital Cohen and Tuur Van Balen, on display at the Berlin Project Space of the Ernst Schering Foundation through May 3, 2015.

The language of the symposium will be German.

To register, send an e-mail to anmeldung@scheringstiftung.de before 5 March, 2015.
